Set Information
The model is created by combining pieces of Battle Machines from 44015 Evo Walker, 44017 Stormer Freeze Machine, 44018 Furno Jet Machine, 44019 Rocka Stealth Machine, and 44022 Evo XL Machine. It uses # of the five sets' pieces. The instructions for the model were on HeroFactory.com. The five sets, along with the other three early 2014 sets, were released in January 2014 in Europe, Australia/New Zealand and Asia, but their release date was held back until March in North America for an unknown reason.
The set contains one mini-figure, Hero Nathan Evo.
Features
Like the Evo XL Machine, the model features a detachable lime green cockpit with an opening transparent gray visor. On each side of the cockpit is an arm-like device that can move forwards and backwards. The machine's right arm has a version of a Plasma Gun, which is a Goo Shooter, a variation of the Plasma Gun, in the story. The XL Machine's left arm has a hand with four fingers that can move forwards and backwards. On the machine's left shoulder is a flick-fire missile launcher, which can launch four missiles. Each of the machine's upper arms has a printed armor piece. On the back of the XL Machine is a detachable, opening transparent green canister. The machine's torso can rotate. The XL Machine has a black clipping piece on each of its yellow thigh armor pieces that can contain a weapon that Evo holds with his hand.
Unlike the other combiner models, this build does not require major disassembly of its component sets. The Evo XL Machine has four extra ball points on its shoulders, so arms from the other four Battle Machine sets in early 2014 can be added onto the machine to create this model. Each of the extra arms comes with a printed armor piece. The Stormer Freeze Machine's arm with the Rotating Ice Blaster is on the top of the XL Machine's right shoulder. The Furno Jet Machine's arm with a Fire Blade is on the bottom of the shoulder. The Evo Walker's arm with a Goo Shooter is on the top of the XL Machine's left shoulder. The Rocka Stealth Machine's arm with the Grab Claw is on the bottom of the shoulder. The Rotating Ice Blaster can rotate by turning a black knob on the back of the weapon. The Fire Blade can move forwards and backwards. The Grab Claw has four translucent green claws that can more forwards and backwards.
Trivia
- Although the powered-up form of the Evo XL Machine did not happen in the story, HeroFactory.com said that the machine can have this mode.
- The Rocka Stealth Machine's Grab Claw arm is its right arm, not its left, but the arm can also function as a left arm.
- Although the instructions state that you have to disassemble the Evo Walker, the Stormer Freeze Machine, the Furno Jet Machine, and the Rocka Stealth Machine to give the Evo XL Machine extra arms, you do not have to do it to create the powered-up version of the XL Machine. You can just take the Walker, Freeze Machine, Jet Machine, and Stealth Machine's arms off and attach them onto the XL Machine to create the powered-up version of the XL Machine.
- In the Invasion From Below game, the model is called the "Evo XL Combi Machine". In the March-April issue of the LEGO Club Magazine, it is called the "Evo Ultra Combi Machine".
