Plasma Guns, also called plasma launchers,(Omega Recon Reports) were projectile weapons designed to fire high-intensity plasma. Heroes tracking down escaped villains were equipped with Plasma Guns for their solo missions, and some had modified versions of the weapons to suit their needs.
Functionality
The Plasma Gun is a variation of the Meteor Blaster, but it is slightly shorter and has a bulkier top half. Designed to mimic the effects of lightning, the Plasma Gun used current sheets that enhance resistance and increase the buildup of energy within the gun for a desired shot, which results in a large explosion and radiation outpour. It shoots high-intensity plasma that way.
There are various kinds of Plasma Guns. Some of them are modified for the Heroes' certain parts of Mission: Catch 'Em and Cuff 'Em.
Example Usage

In Breakout: Part 1, Mark Surge fired his Plasma Gun at Splitface.

Daniel Rocka's jetpack and some Battle Machines have variations of the Plasma Gun. The jetpack has two Plasma Guns.
Each of the battle machines has one Plasma Gun called a Goo ball shooter, or simply Goo shooter for short. These Plasma Guns shoot plasma goo. There are two kinds of Goo ball shooters. One looks exactly like a standard Plasma Gun. The other one looks similar to the Poison Plasma Gun, Shooting Volt Blaster, and Arachnix's mouth.
Set Information
The Plasma Gun was included in all nine Hero sets of 2012, with modifications in several of the Heroes' designs. Two different pieces form to make a ball shooter; the top piece is brand new to the wave, whereas the bottom piece is a redesigned version of launcher pieces included in previous waves. The bottom piece is also used in the 2012 villain sets' guns. 6222 CORE HUNTER, released in summer 2012, also uses a gun called the Plasma Shooter, which is of the same design as the Plasma Gun, but it has a red spike and a bandolier.
44014 JET ROCKA's jetpack in 2013 has two Plasma Guns, which are called "Plasma Shooters" in its set's LEGOshop.com description.
The Battle Machines in 2014 also have Plasma Guns, which are called "Goo Ball Shooters" in their sets' LEGOshop.com descriptions.
