Brain Attack is an online game released for the Brain Attack wave in 2013. The game was available on Android and iOS on January 2, 2013,[Hero Factory Brain Attack Released] and January 11 in HeroFactory.com.[Hero Factory Brain Attack Playable On LEGO® Website] It was made by Amazo Games Ltd.
After Hero Factory got canceled in 2014, the app is no longer available for download on app stores, but the app remains available if the user had previously downloaded it. When the website was removed, the online version of the game was removed along with it.
Gameplay
The game is set in Makuhero City. Each level takes place in a part of of the city and consists of 20 waves where the player fights many Brains. When the player does good enough in winning one of the waves, another wave is unlocked. The other waves are where you also fight Brains that possess creatures. The 20th wave features a boss that is one of the Brain-possessed creatures from the 2013 sets. When all the waves are complete, the next level is unlocked. The player and seven members of the Alpha 1 Team from the 2013 sets celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the area of the Brains. The levels are very similar, but progressively get more difficult.
City Streets
In city streets, the player learns how to control its hero. It must avoid falling into a valley under a subway when the subway's three bridges retract. After the bridges retract, glass doors around the bridges close. After a speeding train passes through the subway, the bridges protrude and then the doors open for a moment. The player can use the subway to trick the Brains into falling into the valley. In the 20th wave, the player fights 300 host-less Brains. When 287 of the Brains are defeated, Bruizer will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the streets of the Brains.
Shopping Mall
In a shopping mall called Makuhero City Mall, the player can use elevators to go between three floors while fighting the Brains. In the 20th wave, the player fights 400 host-less Brains. When 387 of the Brains are defeated, Ogrum will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the mall of the Brains.
Spaceport
In a spaceport, the player must avoid falling into a pit when the pit's glass doors are opened for a moment. However, the player can use the pit to trick the Brains into falling into it. The player must also avoid getting hit by cargo that is loaded by two conveyer belt cranes. However, the player can use the cranes to trick the Brains into getting hit by them. In the 20th wave, the player fights 500 host-less Brains. When 487 of the Brains are defeated, Scarox will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the spaceport of the Brains.
Scrapyard
In a scrapyard, there are two perils. The player must avoid falling into a rectangular pit with lava when the pit's metal doors are opened for a moment. However, the player can use the pit to trick the Brains into falling into it. The player must also avoid getting hit by a smashing device. However, the player can use the device to trick the Brains into getting hit by it. In the 20th wave, the player fights 500 host-less Brains. When 487 of the Brains are defeated, Pyrox will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the scrapyard of the Brains.
Stadium
In an ice rink stadium, the player must avoid going to one of the two goals' laser. However, the player can use the goals to trick the Brains into going there. The stadium's ice rink is slippery, so the player, its sidekick, and the enemies will go faster, and the player will have a difficult time controlling its speed. The player can push a hexagonal puck to one of the goals. One of the goals is red and the other is blue. In the 20th wave, the player fights 400 host-less Brains. When 387 of the Brains are defeated, Frost Beast will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the stadium of the Brains.
Sewers
In the city's sewers, there are five perils. The player can activate four pairs of connected pipes that shoot poisonous green gases to push the Brains away for a moment by using the pipes' knobs. However, the player must get out of the gases' way when it happens. In one area of the sewers, there is a pond of poisonous light green chemical that the player, its sidekicks, and the Brains can come across, but this can damage them if they stay here for too long. In the 20th wave, the player fights 500 host-less Brains. When 487 of the Brains are defeated, Aquagon will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the sewers of the Brains.
Power Plant
In a power plant, there are many perils that the player can use against the Brains for a moment by activating control panels near the mechanisms, but they can damage the player if it gets in the way. The player can use two thrusters that shoot fire to push the Brain away. It can also use arches that shoot electric lasers to form shields against the Brains. The player can use lightning rods to eletricify the Brains. In the 20th wave, the player fights 500 host-less Brains. When 487 of the Brains are defeated, Dragon Bolt will appear and fight the player. The player defeats him and the other Brains. The player and the seven members of the Alpha 1 Team celebrate their accomplishment of clearing the power plant of the Brains.
Interface
After the loading screen, the player is presented to the game's main menu which leads to various options that the player is able to click or touch. After starting the game, the player is given options to customize the Hero by choosing a set of armor and two weapons, and choose one of the Brain Attack members of the Alpha 1 Team as his or her sidekick. The player can also visit the in-game shop to buy different accessories. When the player buys the sets of armor, the player can become stronger. In the background of this screen, the Hero and sidekick dance to the game's music.
The player goes to the map of Makuhero City, which the player can choose two areas, which are levels. The player starts with City Streets, with the first stage. Before the player gets to start the stage, he or she has to choose one of two of nine gameplay bonuses, "Sentry Gun" and "Looking Good". The player can get the "Sentry Gun" bonus or wait for 7 minutes for "Looking Good" bonus to start the stage. In the first stage, the players learns how to control his or her Hero and then fights the Brains. Once the stage is completed, it will unlock the second stage, the "Looking Good" bonus, and the other bonuses. Each of the stages are where you have to defeat all of the Brains in a swarm to win it. When the player does good enough to win the second stage, another stage will be completely unlocked, and this will apply to the rest of the stages. The results of each stage measure how long did the player take to win the stage, how much health the player had when the stage was won, and how many power-ups did the player had. They range from bronze medals with one star each to silver medals with two stars each to gold medals with three stars each, with the gold being the highest and the bronze being the lowest. The results can use these medals to reward a medal for the entire stage based on the player's overall performance. Once all of the level's stages are won, the other level, Shopping Mall, will be unlocked, and this will apply to the other levels. The player can then choose the level from the ones that have been unlocked.
Each level has various hazards that can harm the player, your sidekick, and the Brains. The player can use some of the levels' hazards to damage or defeat the Brains.
There are five kinds of difficulty for the stages, and they can be distinguished by a number of lines, which form a longer line, on each stage. The level of difficulty depends on what set of armor, weapons, and sidekick do you use. The levels of difficulty are:
- One green line - easy
- Two yellow lines - easy to medium
- Three orange lines - medium
- Four red-orange lines - medium to hard
- Five red lines - hard.
Like the online game called Breakout in 2012, Hero Cores included with all of the 2013 sets contain game codes, or Hero Codes, which can be entered in this game for Hero Points in order to buy the accessories from the shop. Each of the small sets provides 400 points (doubled the points from the small 2012 sets), each of the medium-sized sets provides 600 points (doubled the points from the medium-sized 2012 sets), each of the large sets provides 1000 points (doubled the points from the large 2012 sets), and the set 44014 JET ROCKA provides 3000 points. The player can also earn Hero Points by defeating the Brains and buying downloadable packs. When you exit the stage, you can keep any Hero Points that you earned if you earned any.
There are six downloadable packs, which with a cost. Once the pack is purchased, it provided either a number of Hero Points, an extra level or two, a set of sets of armor, or a set of weapons. One of the packs provided two of the things, one provided three, and one provided all of the things. Once the packs were purchased, there is an down arrow button that can activate the packs.
There are nine Gameplay Bonuses. Four of them are where you have to wait 7 minutes to be used. After you activated the wait, you have to wait for the bonus to be used after doing a stage. You must not pick another bonus while you wait, otherwise you have to start over. After the wait is over and then you use the bonus, after doing a stage, you are to pick another waiting bonus in a numerical order. After you pick all of such bonuses, you start over. The bonuses in general include:
- First bonuses - These bonuses can also be demonstrated as glowing pills in a stage. In the level, the power-ups can be chosen randomly and can be placed in a random part of the stage by the game. When you collect it, another will appear in another random spot in the stage as a random power-up. After collecting the power-up, you can activate it to use it.
- Sentry Gun (Bonus Turret!) - First bonus to appear when starting the game. It provides a bonus turret. Demonstrated as a white pill. There are three kinds of turrets, which can be chosen by the game in random:
- One has a Plasma Gun for a head.
- One has a gold head that shoots missiles.
- One has a flamethrower.
- Team Assemble (Sidekick Support!) - Summons three more random sidekicks. If you had lost your sidekick that you started a stage with, the power-up can summon four random sidekicks, whether one of them is your fallen sidekick or a random sidekick.
- Weapon Boost (Maximum Firepower!) - Increases your firepower while glowing red. Demonstrated as a red pill.
- Speed Boost (Run Faster!) - Increases your speed while glowing blue. Demonstrated as a blue pill.

- Sentry Gun (Bonus Turret!) - First bonus to appear when starting the game. It provides a bonus turret. Demonstrated as a white pill. There are three kinds of turrets, which can be chosen by the game in random:

- Having a Blast! (Quick Fire Boost!) - Third bonus. It is where your weapon becomes a rapid-fire kind of weapon. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- Grab Some Cash (Shopping Time!) - Fourth bonus. It is where you get 25 Hero Points after completing a stage. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- Bundle of Fun (Power of Laughter!) - Fifth bonus. It is where you have a random weapon that uses one of various effects. One of the effects is where you make your enemies dange for a short moment. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- X2 Multiplier (Earn Double Points!) - Sixth bonus. It is where you get twice the amount of Hero Points you earn after completing a stage. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- Awesome Armor (Boost Defences!) - Seventh bonus. It is a stronger version of Looking Good. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- The Big Guns (Boost Firepower!) - Eighth bonus. It is a stronger version of Weapon Boost. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
- Hard as Nails (Double Damage!) - Ninth bonus. It is where you become twice as strong. Must wait 7 minutes to be activated.
There is also a power-up called a B6, which is demonstrated as a white pill. Once activated, you can throw a large bomb that can explode upon impact. This causes the bomb to split into three smaller bombs that will do the same thing.
There are achievements, five of which where you need some of the packs to accomplish and three need the summer update to be accomplished. Enemies
The Brains either come alone or with their hosts, which are mutated creatures that look like Scarox, Ogrum, Bruizer, and Pyrox. The hosts are said to be Scarox, Ogrum, Bruizer, and Pyrox's minions. The Brains in general find the player to attack it, but the player's turrets can divert their attention until the Brains destroy them:
- Brains come in varieties: Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, and Red and are stronger respectively depending on the color. They can only do melee damage. Red brains have a fire aspect to them, making them more dangerous. Brains occasionally spawn from a defeated larger enemy: Green from Scarox's minions, Yellow from Ogrum's, Red from Bruizer's, and Orange from Pyrox's.
In the summer update, the green Brains can be replaced by white ones, the yellow ones by light blue ones, and the red ones by dark yellow ones in the first four levels. When the real Scarox, Ogrum, Bruizer, and Pyrox are defeated, dark yellow brains spawn from them. When Frost Beast and Aquagon are defeated, red brains spawn from them.
- Scarox Minions: Scarox Minions fire a three-pronged energy beam, but they are the weakest walking enemy
- Bomb: These Scarox Minions fire bombs at the player. Some have a different weapon.
- Heavy: This Scarox Minion variant fires purple energy blasts and is stronger than a normal Scarox minion
- Explosive: A Scarox Minion of the explosive variant detonate upon destruction, causing splash damage
- Ogrum Minions: Similar to Scarox Minions, but fire one purple energy short
- Explosive: These Ogrum Minions explode upon defeat
- Heavy: This massive Ogrum Minion throws boulders and has a high health meter
- Double-Bladed: These Ogrum Minions wield double-bladed staffs and fire green energy bursts. Some have a different weapon
- Bruizer Minions: Bruizer Minions are fast and fire purple lasers rapid-fire
- Multi-Shot: The multi-shot Bruizer Minions fire eight short-range blue energy bursts. Some have a different weapon
- Heavy: A very large and powerful variant, throw boulders
- Saw: A variant wield a saw and fire multiple purple energy bursts. Explodes on impact
- Pyrox Minions: Fires tracking missiles
- Heavy: Fires six fire busts in a range of area
- Archer: This Pyrox Minion fires three energy bursts at once. Some have a different weapon
- Explosive: These types of Pyrox Minion explode upon defeat
Bosses
Each of the bosses appear at the 20th wave in each level when there are 13 Brains left to defeat. Each of the bosses have various attacks. All of the bosses except Dragon Bolt also appear randomly in stages 6-19 sometimes. When these bosses are defeated, they spawn Brains, like Scarox, Ogrum, Bruizer, and Pyrox's minions.
- Bruizer: He is City Streets' stage 20's boss.
- Ogrum: He is Shopping Mall's stage 20's boss.
- Scarox: He is Spaceport's stage 20's boss.
- Pyrox: He is Scrapyard's stage 20's boss
- Frost Beast: He is Stadium's stage 20's boss.
- Aquagon: He is Sewers' stage 20's boss.
- Dragon Bolt: The final boss of the game, the only boss with a boss health meter, and Power Plant's stage 20's boss. He is only seen in that stage. He does not spawn a Brain after being defeated.

Waves
Each level has a pattern, though each wave can be slightly different from itself every time the player begins playing it. The pattern usually goes like this:
- Initially, the first wave consists of only eighteen green Brains.
- The second wave has the player face green Brains, blue Brains, and multiple Scarox minions.
- The third wave increases the frequency Scarox minions are faced, and adds yellow Brains.
- The fourth wave increases the number of blue and green Brains, but lowers the amount of Scarox minions.
- In the fifth wave, multiple Scarox varieties are seen along with yellow Brains and Bruizer minions.
- Wave six continues this trend of Scarox variants and Bruizer variants.
- Wave seven features mainly Brains and the double-bladed Scarox minions.
- Wave eight introduces the multi-short Bruizer minions and the Ogrum class of enemies.
- Wave nine features these enemies and is filled with Ogrum, Scarox, and Bruizer minions.
- The tenth wave features entirely Scarox and Ogrum enemies.
- Wave eleven adds Bruizer minions and green Brains back into the enemy roster.
- The twelfth wave adds Bruizer heavies and Pyrox minions for the first time.
- Wave thirteen is where these enemies are fought along with Scarox, Bruizer, and Ogrum.
- Wave fourteen has higher class variants of the foes.
- Wave fifteen introduces the Pyrox archer and explosive class.
- The sixteenth wave features less Scarox and Ogrum enemies and more Pyrox foes.
- The seventeenth wave has very few Bruizer foes, mainly just Scarox, Ogrum, and Pyrox minions.
- Wave eighteen omits the weaker Scarox altogether.
- The nineteenth wave omits Ogrum minions and low-level Pyrox and Bruizer minions.
- The final wave, wave twenty, the players gets attacked by a barrage of hundreds of brains. When there are 13 Brains left to defeat, the swarm gets suppoorted by a Brain-possessed creature from the 2013 sets.

- There is a glitch in the game, where sometimes when you start a stage, the circle that locates the power-up does not show the power-up's picture, making it difficult for the player to tell what power-up will they be getting until they collect it.
- Aquagon, Frost Beast, and Dragon Bolt do not have their own henchmen for unknown reasons.
- In the game, Dragon Bolt's Brain parasite is white rather than blue and yellow.
