The Attack on Makuhero City was an event orchestrated by an unknown criminal, wherein Brains invaded the Makuhero Planet and formed an army to assault Makuhero City and the Hero Factory.

Summary

The Brains were created with the specific intent to wipe out the Hero Factory, manufactured by an unknown villain. After developing enough Brains, the villain dispatched them in small rockets toward the the Hero Factory's home planet. Some were implied to be separated from the main swarm by a solar storm, and these Brains formed two smaller swarms that eventually caused Mission: Collision Course and Mission: Robot Rampage.

The majority of the Brains reached the Makuhero Planet, possessing thousands of the local animals and transforming them into dangerous villains. The transformed creatures all became part of a marauding army, which traveled towards Makuhero City in an effort to reach the Hero Factory and destroy it. Seven members of the Alpha 1 Team, out on a publicity appearance, was notified of the attack and returned to the Factory to receive an upgrade in order to better combat the Brains. William Furno was placed in command of the available Hero teams, and the Heroes set out to repel the invading army. Nathan Evo traveled beneath Makuhero City, into the sewers, to fend off transformed Sea Creatures, including Aquagon, while Mark Surge was assigned to guard the Factory itself. Surge was eventually overwhelmed by the Brains and possessed by one of them, traveling inside the Factory to manufacture an army of drones called Blank Heroes to destroy the building.

After figuring out how to disable the Brains and remove the beasts from their control, the Heroes used the Brains' weak spot to free the animals from them, and then the Heroes defeated the Brains and made them unconscious. Dragon Bolt, a dragon possessed by a Brain, arrived after the initial assault, attacked the Heroes, and crashed into the Factory. The Heroes chased after him, but Rocka had the team find Surge while he went to fight the dragon himself. The team encountered the possessed Surge, but he used the drones to attack the team. Rocka took on the dragon alone, arming himself with a jetpack to confront the beast in the air. Rocka freed Dragon Bolt, and then Dragon Bolt ate the Brain that possessed him in revenge for doing so. As the rest of the Heroes were fighting the Hero drones, Natalie Breez eventually removed Surge's Brain, and then had Surge shut down the drones to stop the attack. The other Heroes in the city defeated the other Brains and freed the rest of their possessed animals, ending the assault.

Aftermath

The Alpha 1 Team assisted the citizens in cleanup of the city while the beasts returned to their homelands. Surge, who had previously expressed a distaste for helping the citizens, gained a newfound perspective on his choices and free will after being possessed, and began enjoying the task more.

Underground, cleanup crews were sent into the tunnel created by Dragon Bolt entering the Factory. There, two workers discovered another swarm of brains. It is unknown what happened to these Brains and the workers when the Hero Factory is doing fine.^[SM3] The Heroes fought and defeated the other swarms in a new space battle cruiser called the Valiant during Mission: Collision Course^[SM3] and Tranquis VII during Mission: Robot Rampage.^[SM4]
