The Hero Factory Breakout was an event that had all villains escaping from prison and onto the galaxy to cause havoc.
Summary
The Breakout was orchestrated by Black Phantom. He had Voltix help him with the plan. Voltix had allowed himself to be easily captured by two Heroes, William Furno and Daniel Rocka, the latter having gotten a new upgrade. When the Heroes brought to a prison cell in the Hero Factory's Storage Facility to imprison him, Voltix used his proximity to Von Nebula's Black Hole Orb Staff as an opportunity to trigger it, which created a massive black hole that disabled the prison cells in the Storage Facility and provided a means for traveling throughout the galaxy. Disabling the cells freed all of the criminals from them, and Voltix told the villains to use the black hole to escape the prison. The villains got out of the cells and started going to the black hole. Furno, Rocka, Preston Stormer, Jimi Stringer, Mark Surge, and Nathan Evo tried to stop the villains from escaping, but failed. The villains used the black hole to go to their desired destinations in the galaxy, and they started doing their various schemes there rather than hiding.
Many of the available Heroes in the factory, including the six Alpha 1 Team members, were called by Nathaniel Zib to recapture these villains, and bring them back to the factory. In a departure from protocol, each Hero was sent on a solo mission, against the tradition of deploying Heroes in teams. The rest of the Alpha 1 Team was given their own new forms from the upgrade, with new armor and weapons, to track down and bring back the escaped criminals. They and the other Heroes were also given with new Hero Cuffs, which can fly and detect their targets before capturing them. Rocka's fellow Alpha 1 Team members were given various Plasma Guns for their missions. While the other Alpha 1 Team members went to do their solo missions, the Hero Recon Team ordered Rocka to stay put in the factory to investigate why the Breakout happened.
After the Heroes had been deployed on their missions, Black Phantom infiltrated the Factory and seized control of it, raising the Fail-Safe Shield and preventing contact with the outside world.[Episode 8][Episode 9] However, Rocka was still inside of the Factory, and managed to thwart Black Phantom's effort with the assistance of Alpha 1 and Zib.
The Breakout was revealed to be an elaborate ruse, so that Black Phantom could steal the structural plans to the Hero Factory and transmit them to an unknown benefactor.[Episode 9]
Before Mission: Robot Rampage happened, all escapees are recaptured. However, the Breakout caused many robots in the galaxy to lost their faith in Hero Factory.[SM4]
