Hero Pods are canister-shaped vehicles that Hero Factory uses to deploy Heroes into action on missions.

History

A Hero Pod launching from the Hero Factory

The Hero Factory company developed Hero Pods to get Heroes to missions faster. The pods can either be launched from a room called Hero Factory Launch Facility,[HiA] also called the Hero Factory Launch Bay,(shown in the Mission: Von Nebula game) in the top of the Hero Factory, or carried by a Drop Ship before being deployed below.

Von Nebula

At Lemus 2, William Furno used a decoy Hero Pod to draw Rotor's fire while the heroes moved in. Rotor used his weapon called the Biohazard Gas Shooter to shoot the Hero Pod out of the sky, destroying the Hero Pod.[Episode 1]

A similar trick was used when Furno ejected from the Hero Pod as it sped at Corroder during another mission. The pod rammed into Corroder.[C2][Episode 2]

Furno, Mark Surge, and Natalie Breez were launched in Hero Pods to help Alpha 1 Team on New Stellac City after Thunder's nebula gases cut the MissionCam feed.[Episode 4]

Ordeal of Fire

A large pod carrying both Nathan Evo and Julius Nex arrived at a a besieged refueling station to assist Alpha 1 Team.[Episode 5]

Breakout

After the Breakout happened, many Heroes used their Hero Pods to go after their assigned villains in various planets in the galaxy.[Episode 8][Episode 9]

Features

Hero Pods feature engines to provide safe landings for the Hero inside the pod. They have an autopilot mechanism, and move using two jets.[Episode 2] However, they require Drop Ships for long distance and intergalactic travel. Also, the Hero Pod Launching Facility in the top of the Hero Factory building has a mechanism that can launch a Hero Pod. The Hero Pods are launched one at the time.[Episode 4][Episode 8] They have four "legs", which are metal planks that are on the edges of the Hero Pods and allow them to land. The Hero Pods come with a hyperdrive system that allows for fast inter-galactic travel.[Episode 5]

The Hero Pods also have ejector seats.[C2][Episode 2]

The Hero Pods come in various sizes. There is a kind of Hero Pod that can contain a Hero. There are larger ones that can contain two 2.0 Heroes.[Episode 5] There are even larger ones that can contain an XL Breakout Hero and the Ultra Mach Speed Cycle.[Episode 8]

Set Information

The Hero Pod from set 7168 Dunkan Bulk

The plastic canisters for all Hero sets from mid-2010 to 2011 represent Hero Pods. The canisters are the same ones as Bionicle's Stars sets' in early 2010. The constructed Hero sets could be stored inside the stackable canisters, each of which could be carried and deployed from set 7160 Drop Ship. 2010 canisters have lids in colors matching the hero set figure included. 2011 canisters have bright orange lids. Mid-2011 canisters feature bright yellowish-green lids.
